This photo of me and my eldest son epitomizes that enthusiastic kind of joy you feel when you’re in the flow. You know—because you can feel—that you are doing what you are meant to do.
One of my favorite things about what I do here at Vanessa’s Red Pen is make it possible for my clients to do what gives them joy. Most people who own a business or work for themselves do so because they are called to it. An inner drive led them there. Whether it’s a second career or you’ve known forever what your thing is, I hope you’re finding far more joy than stress. (If not, I can probably help.)
Below is an example of how that works.
When I first heard from Kiera, she was a young woman just starting a business creating comfortable but very fashion-forward scrubs out of breathable, non-toxic fabrics. She wanted to market them to nurses, PAs, dental hygienists, veterinarians, vet techs, and all the hard-working professionals who want to feel great, look great, and be able to afford both. Kiera is a nurse herself, and understands the needs and wants of scrub-wearers from her own inside experience. She found me after struggling with how to write copy for her simple but beautiful website.
When I spoke to Kiera about her business, I could feel the passion and commitment in every word. But when the conversation turned to marketing herself, doubt and insecurity pushed her excitement aside.
I took copious notes during our call. The next day, I channeled her mission and dedication to her purpose as I wrote her web copy.
For me, launching a clothing business would be my definition of daunting and overwhelming. From concept to manufacture to pricing to online sales platforms—none of that is my joy. But it is hers. And her business is still going strong.
She knew what she really wanted. Her true purpose. The thing that gives her joy.
And she made it happen. I was thrilled to help.
